For me, the work days of Thursday and Friday went by pretty fast. There was an overabundance of people coming in. There were many soccer games going on and many people at the batting cages. With the Euro Tournament going on, many people came in to watch the soccer games while ordering food and drinks. Those days were exciting.
On Saturday, the youth teams came in. We added a few more youth players the teams which made it great because now they would have more substitutions. That was just about the extent of it on Saturday. High school and coed games are held on Sunday. On Sunday, with a late notice we had a problem. One of our referees couldn't make it to one of the High School games because he has to take his child to the emergency room. When we were given this information on the phone, we had to think of an alternative plan. I called our manager to see what we could do and she told us. We had to contact our other referees to see if they could fill in for his spot for today. After calling several referees, we finally got one to come in on short notice. Since there was no referee for the first game, a parent stepped up and volunteered to ref the game. We also knew the parent because he plays soccer at Wall2Wall. He is also familiar with the rules. For the rest of the day we were set. Nothing outrageous happened and we ended the day well.
