As always Thursday and Friday were the busiest days. A great amount of people came in to play soccer and use the batting cages. There was an increase in baseball and softball players who came in because it was raining outside. This may have been the result of practices or games being cancelled. Other than that Thursday and Friday was the same. We just performed the usual work duties.
Saturday was a new experience. The youth session had started. So, as before, we passed out waivers which were to be completed. Then we took a picture of each player and issued I.D. cards. Also, we took payments if payments were not already processed online. Now, here comes the new task I had to do. I had to be a time keeper, another name for an assistant referee. I had to keep track of the time, when a team scores a goal, I had to put the score on the scoreboard and write the time they scored on the game sheet. Also, when the other referee wasn't sure about a certain call, he would look at me to see if I knew the correct call. So, I also had to pay attention to the game while keeping score just in case the other referee needed confirmation. The was a nice experience. I wold definitely do that again if they needed me to.
Now on Sunday, it was Father's day.Since we still had everything scheduled for the day such as high school games, coed games and the batting cages, gift cards to certain restaurants were given to every father who came in with his children. We did that to show our appreciation from Wall2Wall. So far this internship at Wall2Wall has been great. I believe I got the hang of things. I feel as I understand everything and improved on things that I didn't understand at first. Wall2Wall has been a great experience so far.
