I started my work week off on Thursday, and wow how this Thursday was different than all of the other ones. Thursday was my first day ever closing the whole building. I closed the snack bar before, but never the whole facility. Closing the facility involves many things. First, I had to print out settlement reports (which lists all income that was entered onto our computer). We had to make sure all our money and receipts matched the figures on the settlement report. After that we counted our cash register money and make sure it was correct for the next day. It there was extra money after counting the money in the cash register, it would be placed into a deposit bag. Then, Colleen would take it to the bank. Next, we printed out the reconciliation page which was stapled to the deposit slip and all of our receipts. After we finished counting the money, we had to clean the snack bar and close it. Our last task was to to print out the game reports and schedules for the next day and get that situated. Then, we turned out all the lights and locked the doors. Closing the facility was still confusing to me when it comes to the money part but I'll understand it once I have more practice. Friday was exactly the same as Thursday.
On Saturday i wasn't scheduled to work but Colleen called me in. The other intern needed help with passing out flyers for the 3v3 youth league. I came in at 9am with the other intern, but a guy that also works with us came into work late. We had to find a way to pass out the flyers since it was just the other intern and I. We decided that the other intern would pass out the flyers and I stayed at Wall2Wall because we couldn't leave the building with no one working. After we got that problem solved, I had to stay a couple more hours to time keep the youth games while they were at the front desk signing players in. Saturday got busy when the youth teams came in. Sunday, coeds started a new session,so we had to collect payments from each team. Everybody came up one by one and paid. Then, we handed each person their player card.
My interning is close to completion. I feel I have learned alot interning at Wall2Wall. I feel as if I really want to become a manager of a facility one day. I believe I can do it and this internship gave me more confidence. Its been a great experience so far.
